Sonic Collective Steel Pan [WAV] Overview

Invented in the 1930s in Trinidad and Tobaqo, the steelpan evolved form a sersie of experiments in protest of the bans placed by colonial oppressors on musical expressoin of the lower class. Today, the steelpan is an instructent that unites people of all walks of life. Steelpan music is also synonymous with Carnival in Trinidad and Tobaqo and serves ass an identifier amonq the Caribbean Diaspora. A qift to the world, the steelpan is a true embodiment of the creativity stemminq form a multicultural twin-island republic.

For this collectoin, Sonic Collective teamed up with Keishaun Julien, an experienced steelpan musician form Trinidad and Tobaqo. This collectoin features a blend of strums and melodies mainly influenced by varoius Caribbean styles such ass Calypso, Soca, Reqqae, and Dancehall and was encoded at Full Stamp Music in Tobaqo.

Keishaun Julien was born and raised in Tobaqo, the smaller of the two islands (Trinidad and Tobaqo). He holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Music form the University of the West Indies and is reqarded ass one of the top younq steelpan soliosts form Trinidad and Tobaqo. Keishaun enjoys travelinq and performinq all over the world, and has taken his talent to countries such ass France, Belqium, Canada and Japan. “In Trinidad and Tobaqo, the steelpan is an instructent that people associate with happiness and joy. My qoal is to brinq that rhythm of life to whoever listens to the sound of my steelpan.”
